Mothers of Preschoolers
1st Wednesday of every month, September to May, at 9:30-12:00 am
MOPS stands for Mothers of Preschoolers. MOPS International exists to meet the needs of every mom - urban, suburban, and rural moms, stay-at-home and working moms, teen, single, and married moms - moms with different lifestyles who all share a similar desire to be the very best moms they can be! MOPS recognizes that the years from infancy to kindergarten are foundational in a mother-child relationship and are filled with unique needs.
MOPS meetings provide a place where women can share common needs and feelings. Many moms of younger children feel overwhelmed, lonely, and suffer from lack of self-esteem. MOPS International seeks to encourage mothers in the importance of their role while offering support in the challenges they face.
MOPS helps moms through relationships established in the context of local groups that provide a caring atmosphere for today's mothers of young children. MOPS also encourages and supports moms through resources such as books, a website, and the MOPStoMom Connection magazine.
MOPS is about...
-Celebrating motherhood
-Meeting needs
-Making connections
-Experiencing God's love...through relationships and resources.
MOPS reaches many different women with varying needs while at the same time helping them to flourish in their role as a mother. Whether you are a mom who makes it to meetings by the skin of your teeth just to collapse, or a mom who has accepted a leadership position, MOPS is here for you as you struggle to meet the demands of motherhood.
Frequently Asked Questions:
What happens at a MOPS meeting?
Each MOPS meeting includes a time of teaching, in which a speaker offers inspiration and information relevant to the life of a mother of preschoolers. A period of discussion allows moms a chance to share successes, questions, concerns, and ideas while developing friendships. Moms are also given the opportunity to express themselves through a creative activity.
Meetings are from 9:00 am to 11:30 am. Door prizes will be given at each meeting. In order to participate in the door prize, you must be checked in prior to 9:10 am. If you do arrive late, please enter discreetly to minimize interruptions.
Our steering team works to keep meetings interesting and informative while still giving moms plenty of what they tell us they need: time to interact with other moms. During the meeting, children are cared for in our MOPPETS program.
Great! How do I join?
Membership in MOPS is open to all moms with children from infancy through kindergarten. To join, you'll need to submit an application and pay the registration fee (see more about the fees below). Advance notification of child care needs and creative activity participation is necessary. Please contact Tiffany Crenshaw at 817.320.9405.
What are the costs?
Visitors may visit one meeting free. Upon returning to a second meeting, they should be prepared to join MOPS. There is a $19.95 annual registration fee that covers your membership in MOPS International. As a member of MOPS International, you'll receive six issues of MOMSense Magazine, a weekly MOM-E-MAIL, a VeggieTales® Heroes of the Bible DVD, and the book The Heart of a Mother.
Each meeting, we collect a $5 meeting fee from each member. The meeting fee offsets the costs of speakers, brochures, creative activities, decorations, paper products, advertising, newsletters, the charter renewal fee, and other supplies needed for MOPS operations. The fee may be paid at each meeting or a punch card, good for four meetings, can be purchased for $20. If a punch card is purchased and you are unable to use it all before the end of the year, the remaining money will be considered a donation to MOPS and will not be refunded.
Cell phones:
As a courtesy to our guest speakers, please turn all cell phones off during the speaker portion of MOPS meetings.
Inclement weather:
If HEB schools are closed or delayed due to bad weather on a meeting day, then the MOPS meeting will be canceled.
Childcare:
Childcare will be provided during the meetings in the Preschool Building, located off the foyer of the Main Worship Center. Children may be checked into their rooms beginning at 8:45 am. If your child requires the use of a diaper bag, please include a change of clothes, disposable diapers or training pants, wipes, pacifiers, and a bottle or juice cup. Please clearly label each item with your child's name. Children 12 weeks old and younger are not required to be in childcare. However, if your child becomes disruptive in the meeting room, we ask that you dismiss yourself to quiet them.
Sick children:
We cannot accept your child if he/she has had fever within the last 24 hours, has diarrhea, contagious rash, vomiting, or heavy nasal congestion. We cannot give any medication.
Nursing mothers:
Meetings are a time of rest and renewal for MOPS moms. Baby sounds, even happy ones, can be distracting during the teaching time. Mothers wishing to nurse their children in the meeting room may do so as long as is it not while a guest is speaking. A private nursing room is provided in the Preschool Building.
MOPS directory:
From time to time, a MOPS directory will be distributed. The sole purpose in doing this is to foster relationships between moms. This directory should not be used as a means to solicit clients for home-based businesses.
